What is segregation, segregation is the separation or isolation of a race, class, or ethnic group by enforced or voluntary residence. Racial segregation provides a means of maintaining the economic advantages and superior social status of the politically dominant group, and in recent times it has been employed primarily by white populations to maintain their ascendancy over other groups using legal and social color. If schools were to be mixed it could harm the white students due to the gap in education between blacks and whites. Blacks coming together with whites would mean that white students could be slowed due to blacks' lack of education, meaning that teachers would have to go back in lessons and take up more time. If schools were to be made segregated the blacks could catch up to the white students therefore the blacks wouldn’t slow the learning process. Another reason why blacks should not mix with whites in school is that blacks might feel left out simply because of the gap in knowledge between the two races making one race feel more superior than the other. If schools were to be desegregated, most teachers would be cut down. If schools stayed segregated then there would be an increase in teachers for blacks and whites. To further elaborate if the school systems were to be forced to desegregate then that means half of the teachers, black teachers, would be let go. This is obviously a problem as segregation provides jobs for Black Americans. Black students will also have a more positive school life if the teacher has something in common with his or her students, such as being a black man/woman. This will lead to the students doing better in their classes as they have a positive role model to look up to and inspire to be like. Segregation of school systems not only provides the resources necessary for Black Americans to find work but also allows Black students to become more successful and find jobs that help the economy. Segregation in the economy means that each race gets to understand themselves and have a bigger connection with each other. Doing this can mean that people can soon understand their race's strong suits and exploit them for job opportunities and better their kind. Having segregation could show a race's flaws and help them better themselves. Segregation can help people focus on what's better in the economy for their race to strive. Having segregation can open lots of jobs for people, and have them carry on traditions and practices in their culture.
In conclusion, you see, segregation is important for the economy as it provides work for Black Americans who would be struggling financially due to not being able to find a job. It also benefits the students as they have positive role models to look up to which will give them the encouragement they need to be productive members of society and this helps our country economically.
